My journey to Plumery
Danielle was born in Central West NSW and grew up with strong rural ties. She was introduced to geology and gemmology as child – when family trips become learning experiences looking at geological maps and finding ridges and landmarks; and discovering what this meant especially in terms of what kinds of rocks and gems could be found within.
Danielle is a qualified Gemmologist. She is also a practicing GP. She began her working career as a Medical Officer in the RAAF, moving onto other roles over the following years including, coordinating health services for the ADF, policy work for Defence Force Recruiting; as a Senior Executive for the Australian National Preventive Health Agency (Department of Health) and in the Department of Agriculture in Biosecurity. She has two medical fellowships - with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators. Danielle has completed further studies with degrees in medicine and business – including BSc(Med), MBBS(Hons), Master of Management (Double major in Leadership and Managing Change) and a Master of Business Administration.
Danielle Klar is a doctor and lives and works in Canberra. She has five children including two sets of twins – and her husband is an Orthopaedic Surgeon. However, after a significant health scare in 2014, she realised during her lengthy recovery period that she had never lost her love of gems from her childhood. During this downtime, she returned to studying jewellery sketching and design, the history of jewellery and then the Diploma of Gemmology.
After undertaking her Gemmology degree, Danielle began working with gemstone cutters and manufacturers to make her own pieces including rings, earrings, necklaces and pendants. Custom designs and special orders then quickly began for friends and family. Danielle loves the concept of designing something unique and beautiful that is designed especially for the client, with the client. Danielle has spent over two years building up relationships within the diamond and gemstone industries.
Plumery was founded in 2015 and launched in 2017, when she had so many beautiful items of jewellery and statement pieces that she decided to open a boutique jewellery concierge studio, and so Plumery was born. Plumery provides bespoke, individualised jewellery advice for the purchase of custom designed collection pieces. It is a concierge service to assist people in discovering jewellery that they desire, value and wish to attain.
